Hello,

I have a dell xps 16 running on i7, windows 7 home premium 64 bit, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd. For at least a year i have been having problems viewing sites that use flash player such as youtube, and facebook. I orginally thought my anti virus was the problem because when ever I uninstalled it the flash began to work. I switched anti-virus programs about 3 times go from mcafee to kaspersky to avg 9.0 full...and it still would freeze up on me. Now it  has been 2 weeks since I uninstalled avg 9.0 and now it has started freezing up my internet explorer and chrome when ever i go to youtube or facebook. Also for some strange reasion it also is making some of my programs like pinnacle studios 14, itunes, and window media player unresponsive. Currently I have taken flash out of my computer. And i have to use my ipad to view youtube videos..but i still can not view flash. I have heard this has happended to many people on mulitple o.s. , Please help. I have tried reinstalling it and it says that instalation failed evertime. Ive also tried reinstalling my os with no success. I ve tried reseting my browsers and reinstalling them....no success.

    Correct answer

    Hi,

I succesfully installed adobe flash player and it past the adobe flash test link u gave me. The files that are in the flash folder are: FlashPlayerTrust, Flash10h.ocx , FlashInstall, FlashUtil10h_ActiveX.dll, FlashIUtil10h_ActiveX.

I will test it out on the sites that crashed before and report back to u with the results.

    Thanks for the help

Hi, good report so far, all Flash files are correct:-) Don't forget to check the add ons for the Shockwave Flash Object to make sure it is Enabled.

    Thanks,

Hi, I have used avg 9.0 and a mcafee anti virus but I can't remember the version...:-(. I am using Internet explorer 8. And I am currently not running any anti virus. I am running windows defender firewall. And also this is causing my adobe premeire elements 8 to not function properly as I can not view a preview of the current project I am working on. That's about it...and thanks for replaying:D

Hi, thanks. Following is the McAfee link. When you open the site, follow Step 1 and Step 2 only. You will use the Programs and Features via the Control Panel.

    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

When you finish that, even tho you removed Flash Player, a check of your Flash files is needed. Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back any files listed there. Then using IE, go to Tools, Manage add ons to Toolbars and Extensions and look for Show all add ons. In one of the Categories (currently loaded) you may or may not find Shockwave Flash Object..I need to know whether it is there or not and if it is what version is indicated.

The Kapersky and AVG 9 info for removal will follow. Once you get these removed then you can Install an Anti-Virus and should not have any conflicts.

    Thanks,

Hi, Your first thought about your anti-virus was probably correct, sorry to say. What you need to do is make yourself a list like this.

First Anti-Virus on my computer, Second, Third, etc . The rule with any anti-virus or anti-spyware program is to have a clean Uninstall of the one before Installing the next one. Some of these AV programs can be very invasive and have components in files you didn't even know you had:-) I'm sure since you have a Dell, that McAfee came Installed, I haven't been able to find a Dell without it.

Post back the version numbers and complete name of each Anti-Virus program that you had Installed. Then I can give you the Uninstall info. That is where I would start.

Also include browser versions if you use any other than IE 8.

    Thanks,
