Question

Flash player has gone mute!!!

Since a few days ago not a single Flash movie will play with audio in Firefox 3. The same movies play just fine in IE8, but in Firefox they play without sound. Since I didn't see any setting in the Firefox preferences to block sounds, and there's nothing like that in the Flash Player preferences, I'm absolutely puzzled. I didn't install or change anything that I can remember to make this happen. Any ideas?

Sure. This is only if you have Vista, not XP or Linux. Vista's audio mixer (if you click the volume icon in the tray you will see the volume slider, and the word Mixer below, click it and the mixer will show) has the ability to adjust the volume per open application, or mute it. So first load a page with a video in Firefox (You Tube or CNN video for example) and when the video is playing with no sound open the mixer and see if Firefox is showing with its own slider. If it is, then you probably have it mute or with the volume slider all the way down.

Now, if after you un-mute it or raise the slider you still have no sound, then it's something else and you might wanna post a new message here to see if somebody can help you. I read about someone who had a similar problem but it was due to something missing in the registry.

Can you explain better how you fixed the problem. I also have no audio using Firefox with Flash Player, while it is fine with IE
