Flash Player installer connection failure

I'm running Windows XP-Pro SP-3.

I'm trying to install the recent Flash Player update, 27.0.0.187.

My browser is Firefox 52.3.0 ESR.

Prior to current update notification, Flash Player updates have been a breeze. The new update downloads and saves OK. When I run the executable file, it fails to make a connection with the server. I get these messages;

"Connection failed. Click Retry button to resume installation", followed by "Connection failed. Click Finish button and restart the install process". Clicking the "Finish" button opens a fresh Adobe Flash Player download page and the entire cycle repeats, ad infinitum.

Any ideas anyone, please?
