Not only is this problem still present on Macs running older OSX like Snow Leopard, but Adobe locked the install package so you can no longer show package contents, a fix that I have been using for a long time yet

Please see the installation troubleshooting guide:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html

If it doesn't help, collecting and posting the logs should give us some actionable information,

Links to the offline installers at the bottom of the guide should get you going.

    The fixes listed didn't work.

I downloaded an older version of flash 18.0.0.333 and was able to use the disk image mounter right click to show package contents and run the installer.  At least i have some type of flash installed again instead of none.

Please ask that the ability to use disk image mounter and show package contents be added back to the next release.  This is a fix that was used by myself for a long time to get flash updates to install.

Please advise how to collect the logs if that is what you are still interested in seeing.  I think that adobe probably is more concerned with the latest osx that helping get it working on an older version.  Just a guess

If you go to the Installation Troubleshooting Guide that  I posted above, and scroll down to the bottom under "Still Having Problems", there's a link to the current Flash Player for Firefox and Safari (NPAPI) offline installer, which does exactly what you're asking for.

We support all the way back to MacOS 10.6.  This isn't a widespread installation problem with an older mac version that we're ignoring.  It's something wrong with the underlying system that affects a very, very tiny percentage of users.

My guess is that if you check for and repair any errors with the filesystem and filesystem permissions, then perform a clean install of the product as described in the installation troubleshooting guide I posted previously, you'll probably get it working normally again.

See the "Try Disk Utility" section here, for instructions:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203176

While you're there, also choose Repair Filesystem Permissions.  Verify Filesystem Permissions will frequently return clean, but then Repair will still fix a bunch of problems.

    Thanks!
