Flash Player installs for IE, but not Firefox?

New netbook, running Win 7 Starter, 32 bit.  Installed Flash Player to IE & it works, but I can't get it to work with Firefox 3.6.8.  It says it downloads & it says it installs, but I never see the flash animation.  Went to the link posted in other discussions and see only F-logo, no animation.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks

    Correct answer

    Yes.  I deleted SWFlash.ocx.

    Just checked.  It's still gone.

    I have not uninstalled etc.

    Thanks.

    I'll give you the links:
Uninstaller to SAVE to the Desktop:

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

FP IE Installer to SAVE to the Desktop:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

FP Firefox or non-IE Installer to SAVE to the Desktop:

    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

After you have done that, then go to this site http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html

Follow the instructions to disable any apps in the system tray that use Flash, check the Security settings (in IE) Right Click on the Norton icon and Disable it. Then Close ALL browsers, RUN the Uninstaller, Reboot and when fully Rebooted, Reboot again to clear old files. When fully Rebooted, RUN IE Installer and then RUN the FF Installer. When finished, Reboot (restart) Your computer Once.

Then go back to your Flash folder and post all files now Installed. Check for the Shockwave Flash Object in Tools, manage add ons in Toolbars & Extensions and then with FF, check for the plugin SWFvs 10.1.82.76. Make sure both are Enabled.

I've been having the exact opposite problem!

FP installed fine to FF & Chrome, but not IE8, and only after I installed CS5 (including Flash) onto my WinXP machine.

The download links fixed it right up, though!

    Thanks.

Thank you.  I think I see problem, but don't know how to fix it.  My Shockwave Flash ver is 10.1.53.64, but when I went to Plugin Check page and clicked on update, I just went back to Adobe install page that has not worked.

Here are the files listed in my Flash folder:

    Flash10e.ocx               1/26/2010

    FlashInstall                    8/30/2010

    flashplayer.xpt          8/5/2010

    FlashUtil10e               1/26/2010

    FlashUtil10e_Plugin          8/5/2010

    install                              5//9/10

    NPSWF32.dll               8/5/10               Shockwave Flash 10.1.43.64

    SWFlash.ocx               1/8/02               5.0 r42

    uninstall_activeX          5/9/10

Can you spell out the steps for e to fix this?

    Thanks,

    Peggy

Thanks for the info. Your Flash files for IE and FF are not the latest version. That SWFlash.ocx is a very old file that was never removed. You need to go back to the Flash folder, right click on it and Remove/Delete it.

You are going to need to Uninstall and Install again. Before you do that, I need to know what Anti-Virus you use. Also you must use the Administrator Account when Uninstalling and Installing Flash Player. Are you the Administrator?

I can give you the steps you need to take, but I need the above information first.

    Thanks.  Yes, I am administrator.

I have Trial version of Norton Internet Security Netbook Edition.

Hi, Using FF(Firefox) check the plugins for SWF vs 10.1.82.76 to make sure it is Installed and Enabled.

If that doesn't work, then you may need to check your Flash folder and post back the Flash files listed there.

Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back the files. The NPSWF files will need to be right-clicked and then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.

    Thanks,
