Flash Player is crashing IE 7

Greetings all,

I am hoping someone may be able to assist me in resolving an issue impacting a number of users in my organization. Our environment requires that we run XP SP3, IE v.7.0.5370.13. We have a number of students who are trying to perform USMLE testing through the site www.kaptest.com, which requires IE 7, Flash Player 10+, other requirements found here: http://www.kaptest.com/Customer_Service/Customer-Service/Technical_Support/CS_tech_softreqs.html. Presently any time a student attempts to suspend or end their testing through the site they receive an error "internet explorer encountered a problem with an add-on (flash10s.ocx) and needs to close." IE then crashes.

Confirmed admin settings were appropriate on a test pc by following the steps located here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html.

Uninstalled (via a/r progs and the manual uninstaller) and reinstalled (via the web and the manual installer) versions of FP ranging from 9.0.280 to 10.3.181.23. Also performed a simple install by basically disabling all non-Windows / non-critical services and startup items, rebooting, and then performing a clean FP install.

Reinstalled IE, set all browser settings to defaults, as well as confirmed scripting, popups, and cookies were enabled and temp internet files were purged. Disabled all add-ons except FP and Java.

Upgraded Java to the latest and greatest.

Our security suite, Forefront, is not interfering with FP install, functionality from what I can tell.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
I'm sorry to hear you guys are crashing.  Since this sounds like you can reliably reproduce the problem I think the next step would be to generate a crash log.  Would you mind following the steps outlined in this document and both create a report through our bug management system and send me an email at ccampbel@adobe.com?  I'll make sure we take a look asap.

    Report a Flash Player crash

    Thanks,

    Chris
