Flash player is installed in Win7 but not working

I am working on a Win7 64-bit system and I can't get flash player to work. I am using Internet explorer 8 32-bit. Looking at the add ons I see Adobe Shockwave but not Flash Player. In the windows\syswow64\macromed\flash I have these files:

flash10o.ock

flashinstall.log

flashplayer.xpt

flashutil10o_activex.dll

flashutil10o_activex.exe

flashutil10o_plugin.exe

install.log

npswf32.dll

I have installed, uninstalled. Used a support page from Adobe "Latest version of Flash Player doesn't display video". Still no luck. I downloaded and installed Firefox 4. Installed Flash Player and it works. I looked and the 'kill-bit' is not installed on this pc.

Whatever you can do to help will be appreciated.

Hi, Your Flash Player Files are correct for IE & FF. And if FF is working then the Shockwave Flash plugin is Installed and Enabled.

Now using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in All addons and or Run without Permission.

Do you find Shockwave Flash Object Installed and Enabled? Is the version 10.2.153.1?

Can you see the Flash Player logo animation here? http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

What Anti-Virus/Spyware program(s) do you have Installed?

Have you had any Virus or Malware Issues? Sometimes these will cause an issue with that IE addon above.

    Let me know,

See posting by "imaref11" earlier; it works for IE9 & may be the same problem.  In IE, go to Tools/Internet Options/ Advanced/  & try the "Reset" button.  You will have to renter your personal settings for IE, but a small price to pay...
