I’m using Windows Vista 64-bit, FF 15.0.1, IE 9, Flash player 11.4.402.265, Flash player 11 active X.

The computer still crashes when using flash player after following the instructions on http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-games-video-or.html

I have done everything that it says and nothing!  I have even done the installing/uninstalling with uninstall_flash_player.exe.  I need a solution now, please.

Hi Loly,

Can you give me steps that allow me to reproduce the crash you're seeing?  You mention it occurs with both IE and Firefox, are the steps the same?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, the steps are the same in both FF and IE.

This happens now (last couple of moths)  every time when I start to play a video on YouTube or Netflix or to play a game on Facebook and within 5 minutes I hear a little click coming out of the external speakers and the computer totally shuts down.  Sometimes I hear the fan spinning a lot but sometimes I don’t.  Still the same result, I'm left with a black monitor screen and the system has shut down by itself.  A couple of time I got the BSOD but I was able to re-start the system using the safe mode.  Most of the time when I re-start the system I get the error message “the computer was not shut down properly….. fix error or start normally”.  I select start normally.  I need to wait several minutes before the system will start again, it seems like it needs time to cool down.

Thank you for answering back, I really appreciate because I am at the point that if I see flash on a page I need to leave the page asap otherwise the systems could shut down.

Hi Loly:

If the fan starts spinning on high, and the PC shuts down, it's normally an indication that it's overheating.  THE most common cause of this, believe it or not, is dust buildup inside your PC's case.  If your PC has not been cleaned for a few months, or ever, you'll have to remove the back or side, and spray the dust out with some compressed air, or suck it out using a vacuum cleaner.

I had a similar problem with my old HP.  In this case, the fan would rev up to high when watching some YouTube videos, or even running a virus scan.  Following the advice of a friend, I removed the side of the case by unscrewing the fastening knobs and sliding it sideways.  Then, it was simply a matter of holding a vacuum cleaner nozzle over the coated areas.  (Of course, the PC was turned off, and unplugged when I did this!)

After I did this, I never had another problem with high spinning fans or spontaneous shut-downs.  (I made sure I cleaned it about once every three months.)

HTH,
