Question

flash player suddenly not working with Firefox on Mac OS X 10.6

I recently became unable to use flash player to watch videos on the Jon Stewart Daily Show website. The video clips play fine, but when I try to play a full episode, I just get a black screen with the sentence, "sorry, this video is unavailable."

I do have Adblocker plus installed on Firefox, but I've had that for a long time and full episodes have always worked on the site.

The site's full episodes play fine on Safari, but not on Firefox.

Does anyone know what the issue is? I read some comments on the site that commercials had been added. Is this a new thing? Could the presence of Adblocker be keeping me from viewing full episodes?

What is the work-around for this if I want to watch full episodes on Firefox?

Thanks.

    Hi,    Hardware Acceleration

You may want to go to this site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,
then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.

    See if this helps.

    Thanks,

I tried your suggestion. I was able to get the settings menu and the hardware acceleration box was checked. But I was not able to uncheck it.  I clicked around with my mouse and nothing happened. I was not able to make any changes.

Is there a reason for this?

Hi, well this has come up before with the Mac. I'll find that info for you.

On Firefox, you could try to disable ad block plus and see if that makes a difference.

Did you try to turn off the hardware acceleration using the 32bit Safari browser?

    Thanks,
