Flash Player Updater leaves the NPSWF32_11_7_700_170.dll file

Hello Adobe Team,

I see today that the Flash Player Updater updates from .170 to .178 but leaves the NPSWF32_11_7_700_170.dll file in the SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder (Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1).

Is it a bug with the updater ?

Thanks, I've looped in the installer team.

The installer folks confirmed that it only removed the build that it was upgrading from, which should have been NPSWF32_11_7_700_178.dll.  You can safely delete NPSWF32_11_7_700_170.dll.

You should be able to verify that the installer removed NPSWF32_11_7_700_178.dll when upgrading to 11.7.700.182, and that NPSWF32_11_7_700_182.dll is NOT marked read-only.

Thanks for the head's up.  We identified a bug in the patch updater mechansim that leaves NPSWF32.dll set to Read-Only after applying a patch update.

Tomorrow's update fixes the root-cause, and will automatically correct the situation on your machine.

If you want to fix it in the meantime, just go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash, right-click the various NPSWF32_11*.dll files, choose Properties and make sure that Read-Only is unchecked.

Hi Jeromie,

the new updater still leaves the NPSWF32_11_7_700_170.dll (WinXP & Win7)
