Flash player will not install-image data corrupted

I have been having problems with flash. I have tried to download and reinstall on both Chrome and Firefox. Used the Automated installer, wouldnt work. Used the alternate download and each time I launch it, it says "image data corrupted"

How can I get flash re-installed for Chrome? Mac OSX 10.8.5, Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 (says its up to date), Flash Version: 16.0.0.235 (it is enabled and says its always allowed).

    Flash Player is a built-in component of Google Chrome.  There is no separate installer required.  It sounds like it should work.  Is the problem you're experiencing with Chrome specific to a single website?  Do you have an Ad-Blocker or other setting that might prevent JavaScript from running?   This could prevent some sites from loading Flash content.
