Question

Flash Player will not play YouTubes

I have windows 7 (64 bit), IE 11 (ActiveX) Flash Player 23.0.0.162.  Whenever I try to play a YouTube video I get a message that I need Flash Player installed.  When I check the Flash Player installed I get the 23.0.0.162.  I have uninstalled it (several times) and reinstalled but still will not work.  I have searched the internet for solutions and followed all suggestions - none work (by the way - all solutions are usually dated 2013 or before - nothing current).  I went to Adobe support and followed suggestions there but nothing worked.  I notice that when examples come up for the solutions they indicate IE 9.  Nothing for IE 11.  I have exhausted many, many hours in searching but nothing works.  I should add that YouTube in Chrome will play but without sound.  Spent many hours trying to get sound but nothing works there either.  I notice that all ads on the interest will play with sound unless they are YouTube based.  Some time ago I was able to put YouTube in my Compatibility setting and they would play ( even though I would have the message at the time of the YouTube screen that I needed to install Flashh Player) but that does not work anymore.

Youtube uses HTML5 video by default and has been doing so for quite some time (see https://www.youtube.com/html5), however, if youtube.com has been added to Compatibility View it'll use Flash Player.  Is it possible that you enabled Compatibility Mode for youtube?  Go to Tools  Compatibility View Settings.  Is youtube.com listed?  Please post a screenshot of the Compatibility View Settings.

Also, ensure Flash Player is enabled in the browser and ActiveX Filtering is disabled.

Thanks for the information. The Snipping Tool is not available on this

computer but I can tell you that the Compatibility Setting is 'Blank' and

the two squares under the setting block are unmarked.

Also Shockwave is enabled and ActiveX Filtering is disabled. Do the custom

level ActiveX settings in the Trusted Sites Internet Options have any

affect?

When I now try YouTube runs I get a quick flash of a picture then it goes

to 'An Error occurred - Please try again later

If the snipping tool isn't available, you can always use the ALT + PrintscreenP then copy to Paint and save the file as JPG.

What settings do you have in the custom level ActiveX settings in Internet Options > Trusted Sites?
