I've turned off as much filtering as I know how including virus protection. I do not get the security bar asking if I want to download. I cannot find a way to "activate" Flash because the Adobe site hyperlinks don't work. The hyperlink problem in unique to Adobe.

Just that. The hyperlinks, the usually colored text in a message that, when clicked, make a connection to another site, are ineffective. They don't work, i. e. they don't connect to another site. The link you have copied did not connecdt me with anything. It didn't work. Not to worry though. I've found that there are other things going south in my computer. Other connections are not working nor is my computer coming out of sleep as it should.

Consider this case closed. Apparently I have a large problem.

What do you mean "hyperlinks don't work"; do you get a 404?

The Windows downloads on http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_text_4 work quite well.
