Flash Problems

Been having a devil of a time with Flash 10.1.53.64.

I looked over this board, and my Shockwave Object  "Flash10h.ocx" is Enabled in my IE Add-ons, which seems to be the first piece of advice.

I am running XP2 and IE 7.  Some websites I go to I can see Flash working, but I can't get any videos or movies to play.  They won't start.  Click play and they just sit there.

Trying to redownload the Flash Player from Adobe website to reinstall, but it is taking DAYS (literally).  I started the download a couple times, and it times out after about 15 hours.  I restart and it goes a little farther.  Then it times out.

Tried on another computer with Firefox and Chrome, and having the same problems.  Both are running McAfee and Webroot Spy-Sweeper.

Help?!?

Hi, You are correct in that Shockwave Flash Object must be there and Enabled:-) Let's take a look at your Flash files.

Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back all files listed. Any NPSWF files need a right click and then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.

Could you tell me the name of McAfee and version number? They have so many versions and unless I know which you have, I won't be able to tell you how to Disable the various components. That is part of your problem. The other is most likely Webroot Spysweeper, so a version number for that also will be needed. The two may be conflicting.

Are you the Administrator and using that Account when Installing?

    Thanks,

    Thanks for quick response.

    Files in folder are

    Flash10h.ocx, FlashInstall.log, FlashUtil10h_ActiveX.exe, FlashUtil10h_ActiveX.dll

McAfee Security Center 9.15, which includes VirusScan 13.15, Personal Firewall 10.15, Anti-Spam 10.15, Parental Controls 11.15

    SpySweeper 6.1.0.145

    Yes, I am the Administrator.

Thanks for the info. All of your Flash Player files are correct and with the Shockwave Flash Object Enabled and the same version, then you don't need to Uninstall or Install anymore. Most likely one of the Anti-Virus or another add on is conflicting.

I will have to review Spysweeper. But if there are any add ons, BHO's, etc in your browser, Disable them.

McAfee: Disable any add ons in your browser.

Once that is done, then try your websites again that you were having a problem with.

Disabling any of the above, will not keep the Anti-Virus from running.

I am not familiar with Parental Controls, but if it has add ons in the browser, you might want to disable them. This is all just for testing to try to determine what is causing the problem.

Will get back to you on the Spysweeper.

    Thanks,
