Flash Videos Not Playing (all I get is a black box) No Fixes Seem to Work

On multiple websites, when I go to play a Flash Video, all I get is a black box where the video should play. I get this on several websites, including those of cbsnews.com and the website for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, among others.

I have uninstalled Flash and reinstalled it multiple times, turned off acceleration and followed fixes that are listed on the forums, but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone help?

I am using a PC, running Windows XP. The browser doesn't matter as it does not work on any brower, but I use Firefox, and have the latest version installed. I have the latest verison of Flash installed, and have even tried the 11 Beta, and that still does not work.

If there is anyone out there that can help? I have been living with this problem now for many months and can't deal with it anymore.  If there is someone who has great knowledge and would like remote access to my computer, I can do that too. I just want this to work.

I am having the same problem with Flash videos.  I get the audio but no video, just a black box.  It happens on computers running Windows 7 and Vista, no difference.  Both are funning IE9.  There are hundreds of other posts on the web from people having similar issues with Flash on Chrome.

I haven't seen any responses from Adobe.

    Try this.

Go to you a tube channel or BBC website.

Right click on an embedded video and deselect the hardwear accelerator check box

    Should then work

I went to that website and tried to view some videos; all of them just show as a black box.

Does that site offer any support?

I contacted both sites and was told I need to have the latest version of FLASH, which I have, but which I think is part of the problem.  I think on older computers the latest version of FLASH is not compatable.  Does anyone know of a workaround for this issue?

The latest Flash Player (10.3.181.34) works fine on Windows XP.  What Service Pack level is it?

Check your Flash Player version at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I'm having the same problem - on only one Playdom video game.  The screen is just a black box.  I don't know how to fix it.
