Flash won't load while using standard account in Windows 7

I'm using the latest version of Flash on IE9 RC and on some sites, while logged in to Windows 7 (64-bit) as a standard user, Flash won't load, but if I switch to my Windows 7 admin account and go to the same site where the Flash content won't load, it does load.

This is Fancast.com on IE9 RC while logged in with my Windows 7 standard account:

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash and turning off hardware acceleration, but nothing happens.

Flash sites like YouTube play videos regardless of which account I'm signed in to.

Also, when I go to NESN.com on IE9 RC in standards mode, Flash content won't load: http://img684.imageshack.us/i/20110224092957.jpg/

This started happening yesterday when I upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit) SP1. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it was the last major change done to my system.

    @eidnolb:

    Hi,

    The Flash logo (letter F in red background square) loads and spins and it says that I'm running 10,2,152,32. I'm also using the 32-bit version of IE9 RC (I think a 64-bit version of Flash is in beta, but I haven't tried it).

    I checked the Troubleshooter and all is set as shown on that page.

    @Tom 5696:

    Thanks for the info. I'll look into that and will post results.

    I tried everything to get Flash to work, until, by chance, I did the following, using my standard account, in Windows 7, SP1:

    Start IE9,

    press the "ALT" key to display the "Menu Bar"

    Click on "Tools"

    Ensure that "ActiveX Filtering" is unchecked.

    Refresh the page that, previously, would not display the Flash Video.

    This worked instantly for me - and it was reversible, showing that this really was the problem on my PC.

    I don't know what ActiveX Filtering does (yet), but I'm about to try to find out.

    Hi Dave-R, That is interesting about that ActiveX Filtering. I have read that IE9 would have more security built in, even more than IE8.  Hope you find out more about it. It would be nice if an "instruction sheet" would be emailed to those that opt for IE9, LOL Not only from Microsoft, but others as well. Not for each change, but those that are new that would cause a conflict.

    I noticed also that you have Installed the SP1 and this appears to cause a glitch for a couple of users as well.

    If you find out what that ActiveX Filtering actually did, let us know:-) Maybe we need a "Conflict" list

    Thanks for your input,

    Hi, I think the SP1 has caused a glitch from what I have seen on a couple of other threads. Following is an excerpt from another thread I'm working on:

    Hi again eidnolb,

    You were  partially right  about Service Pack interference.  I just checked windows update manually, and found smallest "performance update" in optional updates.  It definitely appeared AFTER I installed Service Pack 1, and I was NOT notified by Windows about it, because Microsoft  put it  in optional updates.

    Its KB article is  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2488113  and it is about Direct2D and direct3D.

    The update  does  not   fix weather.com in Opera for me,    but    http://news.gismeteo.ru/video.n2  video now runs smoothly...

    Then go to Tools, Manage addons and look under "Show"(light text) in All addons for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled. That is the ActiveX Control that websites use for Flash Player.

    Let me know on that.

    Thanks,

    eidnolb

    @VikramGaur:

    Hi,

    Well, the thing is that few days ago, everything was OK. Mind you, I couldn't play Flash videos on some sites, I figured that was due to IE9 compatibility with some sites, but Fancast didn't have any problems.

    @eidnolb:

    Hi,

    I don't know what's the difference between Flash, Shockwave, and Shockwave Flash, but I had Flash installed. I had uninstalled Shockwave because I never seem to find any use for it, but I went ahead and reinstalled it.

    Shockwave Flash Object is enabled. Mind you though that even before I had Shockwave, Fancast.com videos would play. I guess Shockwave Flash Object was always there because of Flash?

    Can the optional update be uninstalled? Since it's optional, I don't see any conflict? I would never uninstall a Recommended or Critical update.

    OK, so I went ahead and uninstalled KB2488113 but still didn't help, Flash still won't load on Fancast.com.

    Hi, My understanding is that the other person INSTALLED that update, since that website was not working but after it was.

    Shockwave Flash Object is the ActiveX Control for Flash Player; without it Flash Player doesn't work.

    Shockwave Player is a different program, nothing to do with Flash Player. Some people use it, some don't.

    It's not needed for Flash Player to work.

    You can also try to UNcheck the hardware acceleration. Go to this site and RIGHT click on the Flash logo, Settings and UNcheck the hardware acceleration under Display Settings.

    Thanks,
