Flash works fine for web content, not there for hard drive content

Question

I have Adobe Flash Player 21 installed and it works fine for web content.  It does not work with .flv videos I have on my hard drive.  When I try to set the default program for .flv suffix, Adobe flash player is not listed.

Hi,Flash Player is a browser plugin and only plays .swf files via web browsers. It does not play raw .flv files, unless they're embedded in .swf files and viewed via a browser using the Flash Player plugin. You'll need a different video player, such as VLC Media Player, or any other media player capable of playing .flv files.--Maria
