Flash9b.ocx crash once again

Hi, all

I'd really like to see an official message from Adobe concerning the issue with Flash9b.ocx crashing in IE. Surely they must have received a lot of messages from disgruntled users.

I work for an online newspaper and we have several hundred thousand page impressions every day. And for lots of users our front page causes the Flash player to crash. It's practically impossible to isolate which banner ad(s) that will lead to a crash.

My theory is that there are certain ActionScript commands that are handled in a different manner in the new player, while swfs that contain only animation will work.

I would still prefer FF to banking activities, as I'm still not feeling good with IE as yet.
Well, it's just personal preference on which browser to use, I think.

I too have had problems with numerous crashed with the Flash9b.ocx. I have tried at no avail to fix the problem and it still crashed. My machine and the drivers are all up to date for windows xp as far as I know. There is yet to be a fix and the Adobe Corporation is not wanting to own up to and take responsibility for their faulty software issues. Perhaps a class action suit of some kind amoung all their loyal Adobe users would settle the matter once and for all. SHAME on you Adobe!

For anyone else with this problem, after going through uninstall/reinstall hell, I stumbled on the ULTIMATE FIX for this.

    1. Go to Adobe's website and click on the 'Flash Player Uninstaller' for your operating system
Choose Save, and then save the file to your desktop

    2. Right-click on the file you downloaded and choose 'Create Shortcut'

    3. Right-click on the Shortcut you just made and choose 'Properties'

    4. A new screen will appear. In the Target field add “ /clean” so that it looks like this:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\uninstall_flash_player.exe" /clean
Note: Make sure there is a space after the “ and before the /

    Click OK

    5. Double-click on the Shortcut you created to run it
Click OK and Close when prompted

NOW you can download the latest version of FlashPlayer and you will have absolutely no problems.
