Flashplayer 32.0.0.255 will not update over previous version

Flashplayer ActiveX, NPAPI or PPAPI 32.0.0.255 do not upgrade over version 32.0.0.233.  Instead, you see two separate versions installed in Programs and Features.  In the past, the latest version always upgraded over the previous version.

    That's really odd.  I'm not seeing any evidence of this being a widespread thing.


    A couple recommendations: 

    • When in doubt, reboot
      • We don't make you shut down your browser to update, but that means that you can have parallel instances running.  We may be waiting for them to exit to clean up.
    • Uninstall and reinstall
    • Something is whacky with the underlying filesystem or registry
      • Let's talk about that if it's still an issue.  I'd like to collect forensics first.
