Flashplayer Installation Problem!

Hello everyone.

I'm not a full on techie when it comes to computers, but I know how to get around enough to know that I have tried all that is in my power to fix my problem. My problem? Flashplayer's Updates.

I am well aware that Adobe recommends that users uninstall all other versions with its own stand-alone uninstall.exe. Frankly speaking, I don't know what possessed me to update it when it gave me the notice before uninstalling everything again. I have had this problem before and I thought that since I had solved it a first time, it would not continue on. I was wrong.

I run a Windows XP Home Edition Serv. Pack 3 w/ an AMD Athlon 64 processor, 1.81 GHz, 2.00GB RAM. My connection to the internet is via a wireless router which my computer is the main station to. It's a Desktop and a creation of my own, so it has no particular brand.

Now, I mostly use Firefox for my internet navigation and if the mood sways me, I'll use Google's Chrome. After the last update to the flashplayer, I have been unable to use Chrome at all and, of course, FF has not been able to show any flash content.

I have done so many things to fix it that I have already forgotten the processes I have tried, so I'll just say that I have gotten the uninstall.exe and have run it more than once, and once I have checked the file to make sure that everything is gone, there is a file that just WILL NOT leave. I re-ran the uninstall and found that this file is scheduled to be deleted after the restart. Once I do restart it, the file is still there. When I try to manually delete it, it says I don't have the access to that file. I am currently using the administrator profile, so there should be no problem.

The file's name is

"FlashUtil9g"
Description: Adobe Flash Player Helper 9.0 r151
File Version: 9.0.151.0

Another curious thing is that when I access Youtube, it tells me that the browser that I am using is currently not supported by the site. I find it odd, since the ver. of FF that I am using is the latest one, it being 3.6.3.

Should I try to install flashplayer once again or should I try to delete this file?

The file you are unable to delete shouldn't prevent you from installing and using Flash Player.  But try to find a file unlocker on Google, and you should be able to delete it anyway.

Next run the uninstaller again, then download the offline installers found on this article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html (section 5).  Make sure that all browser windows are closed when you run the installers.
