Flashplayer Update failed to install

I'm prompted to install update to Adobe Flashplayer.  Update downloads, but won't install.  error message This application failed to start because sliprt.dll was not found.  I've tried re-installing - same error message.  Browser is IE9.  OS is Vista 32 Untlimate.  Any ideas?
