Same for ie11 .... keep logging into sites to be told player needs an update ... the Microsoft suggestions don't help at all ... the addon IS enabled ... activex filtering IS disabled and I have the latest version ...AS USUAL .... MS blames Adobe and they blame MS ... and the users suffer ...  adobe did want to stop producing flash ....make it buggy enough and people won't want to use it I guess !

Nobody is blaming anybody; tell us your Flash Player version ("latest" means nothing), and somebody will help you.

Also, a screenshot of that message ("player needs an update") would help.

I run win8.1 and IE11 set to auto update ... flash is embedded so I have the LATEST version (that's what it means)

active x filtering disabled, addon enabled

Why it actually checks your version I don't know.... just let it try ... not nag you to get a new version

Flash Player for IE in Win 8 or 8.1 is embedded by Microsoft, maintained by Microsoft. Adobe writes the code and collaborates on the updates, but it's Microsoft's baby.

Steps to troubleshoot Flash Player with IE in Win 8 are here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html
