Frustrated with flashplayers

I have XP Pro, IE 8, been trying to fix Adobe Media Player but to reinstall it, it keeps insisting I need flash player. However, tho' I can get the Flash Player 9 and Flash Player 10 .exe files into my system, when I run them, they seem to take but nothing happens and neither player actually seems to be installing. Certainly I keep getting the same message from the Adobe Media Player files. It also keeps stating that I need Java Script turned on for some reason. And since I am computer impaired, I haven't the vaguest idea how to do that even if I COULD get the flash players to load. I have Adobe Shockwave player but it doesn't seem to work for this either.
Any suggestions?
My add/remove program files shows Adobe Flash Player active x installed and Adobe Flash Player 10 plug in installed. No flash layer of any number showing in my programs, however.

PD, It really doesn't help to clutter the forum with old threads. If you have a question or problem with Flash Player,

it is best to start a thread.

Now it tells me to down load new Flash player and I have turned off Java scrip. Not your fault it was telling me before
and still I can't get my music to play.I may have to take my new lap top in and have it set up again.
P.S. It was the new Flash setup that caused all of my music not working I agree with that. Anyways thank you for you
