'general error' results on flash player install mac mountain lion

Running both Safari 6.02 and Firefox 18.02 on Macbook 13" Al, Late 2008; 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; OS X 10.8.2. All attempts to install Flash Player 11.5.502.149 have failed, resulting in a "general error" consistently at ~50% of the download and install process. Have followed what instructions I could find, including the Uninstall Flash Player.app and removing certain files from /Library and ~/Library filepaths. No luck...and apparently I'm not alone. I'm including the Console Log from my last attempt, which is more or less the same as that posted by Hmalina on Jan 29.

My experience with using the "sudo" command process is minimal...not sure I understand all of Chris Cambell's instructions...but I'm aware of how well and truly I could get off in the broccoli with the slightest misuse of "sudo." I'd be grateful for any assistance which may be offered. Thanks much, dcdudley

Please try downloading and installing again from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  We've updated the installer and this should no longer occur.

Thanks,

Chris

I was finally able to install the latest update. While remaining in, "switched users" to another "adminitrator" account on my Mac. Using Safari, I re-downloaded the installer and reran the install. This time it worked.
