Help! I am trying to install Macromedia Flash

I have been trying for a very long time to install this program but I haven't been able to. When I try to install I will see the installation movie, like it is trying to install it but then it will stop and will not show the installation complete so I figure that it did not work correctly. When the movie stops, it looks like it is being blocked by something, I am almost sure it is being blocked. I lost the program when I installed Internet Explorer 7, but then I had to uninstall Internet 7 and then install it again. Any ideas, anyone. Please, I really need help, thanks.

    Hi there cranberrycountry,

Your issue may be different. Please reply with all the files that you see in the following folder:

    C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\

I assume that the file Flash8d.ocx is still in this folder, even after uninstalling?

I have both of the same issues. I have tried installing from Adobe site, and get the same symptoms as Mrowland. After installing/uninstalling multiple times, I found the msi file (Install Flash Player 8 ActiveX.msi) on the adobe site. I tried installing this and got the same issue as CranberryCountry, about Flash8d.ocx failing to register. I ran the uninstall app, as suggested by Darren McNally, and watched the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash folder, but is was successfully removed along with the Flash8d.ocx and other files that it contains. Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Mrowland

Instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Flash Player:

    1. First download the uninstaller to your desktop from here http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
    2. Before running this uninstaller be sure to read the instruction and close all running programs.
    3. Open the following folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    4. Run the uninstaller
    5. What files are left in this folder? C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    6. If there are files left, delete the Flash folder.
    7. Install the Flash Player from here: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

If you are still unable to install Flash Player, please read through the following thread carefully.

    Hi,
I am having the same, long-standing problem!!

I also see the installation movie..

...I even get the following message:
    "Version 9,0,45,0 installed successfully"

However, I continue to get the same message from Internet sites such as Discovery Channel and YouTube - always tellling me that I need to "download the latest version of Flash Player."
(This starts the entire process over again !!)

However, at one point during the installation I did receive the following error message
    Error 1904.Module
    C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash8d.ocx
    failed to register. HRESULT –2147220473.
    Contact your support personnel

The bottom line is - I still cannot watch ANYTHING via Flash Player.

I you have any luck, please drop me an e-mail. This is very frustrating.
