I looked all over the web for this.

When I visit www.gametrailers.com and want to view a video, i get this warning:

Image showing the warning: http://img69.imageshack.us/f/screenshot20110415at170.png/

Warning message:

Adobe® Flash® Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. The following local application on your computer or network:

/about/blank

is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:

cdn.flashtalking.com

To let this application communicate with the Internet, click Settings.

You must restart this application after changing your settings.

buttons: [OK] [Settings]

Anyone know what this is?

Can it be trusted?

How to get rid of it?

Any response would be greatly appreciated!

I just wanted to follow up on this thread on behalf of Flashtalking for anyone who googles this same error.

Flashtalking is a major 3rd party ad server and is not malware. This error message will have been displayed because the Flash settings will have been set to alert on any third party content, which in this case was an advert made with Flash.

I hope this alleviates any concerns regarding this.

    Actually the warning:

Adobe® Flash® Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. The following local application on your computer or network:

    [filename]

is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:

    [url]

To let this application communicate with the Internet, click Settings.

You must restart this application after changing your settings.

Is a standard security feature in Flash Player to prevent local files with Flash content, which communicates with or links to external sources (websites), from connecting without specific permission from the end user. This is to prevent someone from sending an HTML file to another person which could download a virus on opening.

This warning pops up whenever a local file with Flash Content embedded is opened. Even the "ExpressInstall.swf" file that refers users to Adobe.com to update older versions of Flash Player, will pop this warning up when  a local file is opened.
The local file needs to be added to trusted locations and files under the Advanced tab in the Global settings, to end the popups.

Hi, No, don't click on anything like that. Whatever Anti-Virus program you have, I would close all browser windows and run it.

There are too many fake warnings out there. Sounds like that site is not safe(flashtalking).

    That would be my advice.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for the reply.

Problem is, this doesn't really but me in a better position than before.

www.gametrailers.com is a highly respected and trustworthy site. Call it www.nytimes.com of games if you will.

I visit it like once a day, and have done so for years. Other people who visit this site, dont get this warning. Just me.

So I assume something is wrong with my Flash plugin or I have some evil files on my Mac.

Whatever it is, reinstalling the Flash plugin OR Safari didn't help a bit.

Accessing www.gametrailers.com in Windows (bootcamp) dont give these warnings.

I just tried www.gametrailers.com using Firefox, and got this message:

    http://img98.imageshack.us/f/screenshot20110418at100.png/

I REALY hope someone out there who understands this problem, and maybe can help me.

Hi, Did you run your Anti-Virus program? I understand many users of Mac think they don't get Viruses/Trojans or Malware.

Yes, they do. Why do you think Kaspersky and other highly regarded Anti-Virus Programs have Anti-Virus for Mac?

    My advice still stands.

    Thanks,
