Question

Help with Correct Flash Files?

Can you answer two questions before we start? Why do you think it works under one administrator and under guest but not under the other administrator?

Why would the auto update not uninstall and install properly?

From other post.

I have the same problem which just recently started. Don’t know exactly when but my wife called me the other day when a flash object would not work anymore on a site she used to go to. Page starts to load then it shows "Movie Not Loaded" if you right click on the screen.

One more twist. I have two administrator accounts on my home computer, Mine and My Wife’s. I also have a Guest account.

The newest version of Flash was installed from Mine and it works on all web sites. It does not work on all web sites on my Wife’s. However, it works on all web sites on the Guest account. Go Figure?

Running Windows XP Service Pack 3

Internet Explorer 7

Under Manage Add-Ons they all show;

Shockwave Flash Object     Enabled     Flash10e.ocx

In the Flash Folder I have these files;

Flash10c.ocx     Ver. 10.0.32.18

Flash10d.ocx     Ver. 10.0.42.34

Flash10e.ocx     Ver. 10.0.45.2

FlashUtil10e     Ver. 10.0.45.2

Uninstall_ActiveX     Ver. 10.0.45.2

Install.txt     Dated 2/22/2010

Java is Version 6  Update 17

Thanks in advance for the help!

There are several option under Manage Add-ons

Add-Ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer

Add-Ons that have been used by internet Explorer

    Downloaded Active X Controls

Those I listed are the only two under Add-Ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer

Under Downloaded Active X Controls it show three more

    Java Plug-in 1.6.0_18  File - npjpi160_18.dll

    Java Plug-in 1.6.0_18  File - jp2iexp.dll

Under Add-Ons that have been used by Internet Explorer there is another one

Under Add-Ons that run without requiring permission there are more

    Java Plug-in 1.6.0_18  File - jp2iexp.dll

    Java Plug-in 1.4.2_03  File - jp2iexp.dll

Deleted those two versions from the Flash Folder. Be right back have to reboot!

    March 11, 2010

Hey js, you are getting the hang of this!! (Reboot)

Good work on deleting those 2 old files!

Thanks for the add'l Java add ons. However, would you double check that one - Java plug-in 1.4.2_03 ( running without

requiring permission?) That should not be there and should have been removed when you Removed that  from Add/Remove.  Make sure that in Add/Remove that the Java 2 Runtime Environment SE 1.4.2_03  has been Removed.

    Thanks,

Yes. Java 2 Runtime Environment SE V1.4.2_03 has been removed from Add/Remove Programs.

There are actually two entries under "running without permission" of Java Plug-in 1.4.2_03 that are still there.

    Have rebooted twice.

Hi js, No problem on the delay, I'll take smoked salmon:-)

Good work on the Java install. Take another look at the add ons, Tools>manage add ons.Find more add ons.

You should have some more Java listed.

There are 2 files in your Flash files folder that needs removed/deleted. Go to your Flash folder and find Flash10c.ocx and

Flash10d.ocx. Right click on each and when the window opens if it says run as admin., then do so and Remove or Delete

which ever it says. If it does not say run as admin. but has Remove or Delete, then do so. Do that for both of them and

    when finished Reboot your computer.

Post back the results, don't forget the Java add ons.

    Thanks,

See ya after dinner. Should I update Java to Update 18? I am running Update 17. I can't belive that one update would cause the problem?

Also, when I do the uninstall should I have all uesers logged in?

    March 10, 2010

Hi js, concerning Java, the first thing you will do is go to Add/Remove and click on each Java listing and Remove both.

When fully removed(you won't see them listed anymore), then Reboot your computer. Close out of Add/Remove and

    go to this Java site.

    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

When the site opens, look for "Here are the Java SE downloads in detail" Page down until you see "What Java do I need?"

To the right you will see an orange bar saying "Download JRE" This is the one you want. Click on it and then you will see

"Select Platform and Language for your download" Click on the arrow and Select Windows. Then check the box to agree

to the license info.  Skip over the user name and password info and click on Continue. Next, disregard any installer info,

etc. Look for the i586 and you want the Offline Install.  After that just follow the instructions. You will want to SAVE this

to your Desktop. After this is done, close all browsers and click on it and RUN. After it is fully installed, Reboot your computer.

Then open your browser and go to Add/Remove and confirm that JRE 6 update 18 is listed. Close that out and go to Add ons , all sections and post back all Java add ons that are listed with version numbers.

    Thanks,

    Windows Firewall is Off

Norton Internet Security v 16.8.0.41 and it is up to date and the firewall is turned on.

    March 10, 2010

Hi, thanks. Now Norton is somewhat difficult to work with and can cause problems when Installing FP. I have most of the

information so we can turn off parts that would cause problems.

Right now I will get the info for you to take care of Java. First it is supper/dinner time, so will be back after that.

    Thanks,

Java 2 Runtime Enviroment SE V1.4.2_03

    Java 6 Update 17

    No Download Manager

    No getPlus

Those are the only 6 Files in the Flash Folder.

All logins under Manage Add-Ons show Shockwave Flash Object  Flash10e.ocx  Enabled

    March 10, 2010

Hi js, thank you. We will be removing the old Java files and updating Java for you. I will give you the exact instructions to do so.

    Glad the DLM/getPlus wasn't there:-)

Ok on the Shockwave Flash Object (SWO is how I refer to it-saves typing)

We will also get you ready for an Uninstall and Install of Flash Player. I will also give you the exact instructions for this.

I need to know what Anti-Virus/Spyware program you use and does it have a Firewall. Provide a Version number is you have it please.

Please don't install any new software or new programs until we take care of the above.

    Thanks,

    eidnolb

    March 10, 2010

Hi js, glad you started your own thread. To answer your 2 questions. 1. I am not sure yet. That is a situation with another

person has, it works on his guest account but not the Admin. account and we have worked on it but have not come to the

final answer yet. It could have something to do with what Flash files are/were installed and what version of Flash Player

was used. 2. If you received a prompt from Adobe for an update to the latest version, I am sure it worked but if you didn't

know that you needed to Reboot(restart) your computer after Adobe installed the latest version, then that would have

    been a problem.

Right now, go to Start, Control Panel and Click on Add/Remove. Post back all listings of Java with the version numbers.

While you are there make sure you don't have any listing for DLM(download manager) or any listing for getPlus. If there,

Remove both of them and then Reboot (restart) your computer. DON'T remove any Java, I just need the info on those.

Go to your Flash folder and make sure that the files you listed are all that is there. I just want to confirm that what you have already listed is complete. You have 3 different versions of Flash Player files installed and that must be corrected and we will do that.

Also go to Tools, Manage add ons and look for Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control ....Flash10e.ocx is the correct

version and must be enabled. Post back and tell me what you have listed for that.

    Thanks,

    eidnolb
