How do I install an archived Flash Player file?

I am installing Flash player onto a x86 WinXP SP3, IE8.  I had just upgraded to FP 11.4x because I was having video-audio sync problems on Hulu.com (this was suggested by Hulu Support).

That did not help the issue, so they want me now to downgrade to FP 10.3x.  I downloaded what I hope is the correct (archived) version to my desktop and unzipped it into a folder.  Whenever I click on the installer/uninstaller, a window pops open and tells me that I need to get the latest Flash player and does not install the archive files.

A nice Catch-22 situation.

No where on the Adobe site are there simple instructions on how to do this (actually install an unzipped archive file and get it to work properly).

If I do a search, nothing shows up.

Whoever set up this site to be so non user-friendly needs to have his/her hands slapped, their computer rights taken away, and be given an Etch-A-Sketch instead.

Vernon... I have to agree re the site usability. I can't even get the link to insert correctly. Just do a search for "oldapps" They are all there

Finally got the link to work... 3rd time lucky.

You cannot "downgrade" Flash Player; you need to completely uninstall any newer version before installing a previous one.

How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

    Hi,

    Pardon me,

I must not have been clear enough.

Hulu Support did in fact want me to "downgrade" back to an earlier version.

I just left out the fact about uninstalling the original version (first) because I thought that it was just plain obvious to do so.

I have uninstalled and installed or reinstalled software many, many times over the years and did not think that it was necessary to actually say that in my remarks.  And I can use Revo Uninstaller, if I have to, in order to really get rid of all traces of the leftover crap in the registry and Windows files that other (name brand) uninstallers sometimes don't do.

    Well, my bad.

Now, can we get back to my original question about how to run the saved archive file and get it to run properly?  As I said before, when I attempt to run the (.exe) install file, the window that then opens up tells me to install the latest version (not the older version I just downloaded) and will not let me go any further except to quit. Obviously, that is not what I wanted to do.  Hense the "Catch-22" remark.

And, I'll also take the opportunity to repeat my remarks about the site being "non user friendly", (only this time without the "smiley-face".....)

Why even have an installer for the older version in the first place if it indeed will not let you do so?  Or am I apparently just so stupid that I can't figure it out?

So, how about an actual answer and not a retort?  I've just been at this too damn long for silliness.
