Question

How often does Adobe Flash Player need updates?

I work in a school district and we have a centrally controlled user interface, which does not allow students to update Adobe Flash Player. We use a program called Wiggio as an oral language tool so students from different geographic locations can speak to one another using a headset and microphone.  When Flash Player is not updated, they cannot get on at all, and we have no technicians on site. I would like to schedule technicians to be in our building on a regular basis so that we don't have upset students when they can't use Wiggio.  What would be the best way to do prevent Flash Player from blocking kids?  A regular maintenance schedule?  A change in how/where it is used?  Ideas?

    Hi,

Are these systems left on while unattended?  If you have Flash Player installed with the "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" update option, then Flash Player should be updated silently and automatically within 24 hours of a new release being made available.  You don't need to be logged in, the computer just needs to be turned on and have access to the internet.  If a user is logged in, they don't need to be an admin for Flash to update itself.

Alternatively, you can use other industry standard tools and update mechanisms to perform updates.  More info can be found in our admin guide:

    Thanks,

    Chris
