How to get Adobe flash to update when it completes the update process but ends with same version?

I have windows 7, and am using Chrome for my browser. Adobe web page says: "You have version 19,0,0,226 installed." It also says I should have version 19.0.0.245. I've gone through the update process several times, it appears successful, (with and without browser open), no error messages, but it still says I have version 19,0,0,226. I have even rebooted to no avail. Any suggestions as to what's going on?

Google embeds Flash Player in Chrome and updates are distributed by Google via a Chrome update or component update.


To check for a Chrome update:

  1. launch Chrome
  2. In the address field type: chrome://chrome
  3. Chrome will automatically check for an update.
  4. If an update is available it will be downloaded and installed

To do a component update

  1. Launch Chrome
  2. In the address field type; chrome://components
  3. A list of components will display. Look for pepper-flash
  4. Click the check for update button to check for an update
  5. If an update is available it will be downloaded and installed

Thanks, Maria. That worked!

Interesting observation: Chrome still doesn't give me access to CNN Live

http://go.cnn.com/?stream=cnn. I still get this error message "An error has

occurred. Please ensure your Flash Player is up to date by visiting

Adobe.com."  However, Firefox now works for this streaming.

Hi Mickey,

Please make sure Flash Player is enabled in Chrome: Enable for Chrome
