How to install a newer version of Flash Player for OS X 10.6.5 Mac

I upgraded to the latest operating system of OS X 10.6.5.  In doing that I had a transfer of all my data and programs from my old laptop to this new one.  My old laptop has Adobe Flash Player version 10.1.102.64.  When I brought home my new MacBook Pro all I get are messages that say I need a plug-in, I need a newer version, etc...  I have been to the Adobe page to see which version if any is on my new laptop.  I see the icon "Get Adobe Flash Player".  I have looked through my new computer and do not see any version of Flash Player.

I have tried downloading the version for OS X 10.6 to no avail of course since my operating system is past that...

I can't download the 10.1.102.64 and upgrade from that can I?

I have talked to the Apple Tech's at the store and Apple on the phone who said it is now in the Adobe's ballpark to come up with a newer version of Flash Player...  If that is what I have to wait for I'm switching back to a PC and the world of Gates!

Hi, You can go to this test site to see if you have Flash Player Installed on your 10.6.5 Mac.

    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Then this link has info on how to Uninstall Flash Player (if needed) and Install the latest version. It is a step by step.

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html

After reading that info and you just need to Install, then this link would be easier:

    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

Flash Player is a browser plugin and as long as your browser is supported by Adobe Flash Player, then you shouldn't have any problem.

    Hope that helps,

I wish that would have helped but I went through all that.  Thank you though.  Lori

Hi, what was the result of the test site? Without knowing whether you have FP Installed or not it is difficult to determine what you need to do. If FP is installed, then you need to check to see if the plugin is Installed and enabled. Check in Preferences for that. I don't use Mac and have forgotten when your Flash files would be, perhaps you know. But you need the Flash files AND that plugin (SWF) Perhaps you just need to check the SWF plugin for your browser to make sure it is enabled.

    Thanks,

(where) your Flash files would be.
