Question

How to install FLASH in CHROME

I've tried literally EVERYTHING on the web, and NONE of it works.

Most say something like "Type 'chrome:plugins'" in the address bar of Chrome. This converts to "chrome://plugins" but takes you to a page that simply says,

"This site can’t be reached The webpage at chrome://plugins/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_INVALID_URL"

I've searched and searched to get Flash working in chrome, but NOTHING HELPS.

Will someone PLEASE make it possible to not need to run FIREFOX to watch YouTube, etc.? -- Thanks.

Google embeds Flash Player in Chrome, but disables it by default, forcing users to enable it manually.

Google removed the chrome://plugins option several releases ago.  Anything you find referring to chrome://plugins is no longer relevant.

Please see Google's support page, Use or fix Flash audio & video - Computer - Google Chrome Help , for assistance.  If you continue to experience issues after working through Google's support page, please provide the following:

  • operating system version (e.g. OS X 10.11.6, macOS 10.12.3)
  • exact link to the page you are attempting to view Flash on
  • Chrome version and Flash Player version - both can be obtained from chrome://flash, for example:

Thanks for your kind response.

However ...

I did what the link you provided suggested (Flash is now set to "allow" at YouTube), but Flash still does not allow me to watch YouTube content on Chrome. (Yes, I reloaded the page, and even reloaded Chrome.)

Do I need something different than Flash to watch YouTube in Chrome?

When I go to YouTube, it just says,

“Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available.

Click here to visit our frequently asked questions about HTML5 video.”

Clicking takes you to a page about HIV drugs! — Turns out this is an AD that gets displayed if you cannot watch YouTube. Wow … Every unwatchable video on youtube (only when reloaded) also displays this same message, and that link is NOT an ad, -- YouTube -- but the linked content does not provide any real help!  :-(  As a YouTube contributor, I am very familiar with these video formats. Sadly, nothing on that page helps me watch YouTube in Chrome.

One might “think” Google, who owns YouTube AND chrome, would WANT Chrome to allow users to watch YouTube … but apparently NOT!!!

MacOS 10.13.1 (“High Sierra”)

Thanks for any help.

I also went to other sites and did the same "allow" Flash thing, but NONE of them will display content requiring Flash.
