I cannot install Flash Player

I have a new iMac. I am a member of the monthly program with all the new adobe programs. I have downloaded the Flash Player, it is installed, but I can't use it because the computer tells me "You already have Adobe Flash Player installed. To improve security and save energy, Safari did not activate Adobe Flash Player after it was installed." The program is in my system preferences, but it will not allow me to move it to the trash.

What do I do now?
