Question

I get this error message: "The video editing tools require a modern version of Flash to be installed"

On the Adobe website, it says "Real help from real people"

I guess that should say, "Good luck figuring out your problem on your own, Real Person!"

Anyway, get this error message: "The video editing tools require a modern version of Flash to be installed"

That's the error message I get on YouTube, even though I just installed the Adobe Flash Player 25 PPAPI, and my computer

says "You have version 25,0,0,127 installed"

So what do I do now, so that YouTube stops giving me that error message?

The forums are user-to-user forums.  Staff participate when they can, in between their normal workload.  If you look through the Flash Player forums you see user participation is low, so it's not realistic to expect a response immediately.  I apologize if this doesn't meet your expectations.

  • What operating system, including version, is this on?
  • What browser, including version, is this on?
  • Using this browser, go to https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html and click the 'Check Now' button - post a screenshot of the resulting system information.

According to Adobe, my flash player is installed.

According to YouTube, it is not enabled.

It does not give me the enable or disable choice anywhere on my computer.

I don't know how to take a photo of my "system" page: it says I'm using Windows 10 Home, 8.00 GB, 64-bit operating system and I'm using a Chrome browser, Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit)

Although supposedly Chrome browsers already contain Adobe Flash Player, YouTube said I needed to install one, so I have. But it's not enabled, and there is no place that says enable or disable.

There is no "gear icon" that Adobe tells me I will see on my Chrome browser.

Because it doesn't give me the enable or disable choice, does this mean that my Chrome browsers are corrupt, and I need to uninstall them and then install them again?

Please respond. Thanks!

Hi,

  • Using Chrome, go chrome://plugins
  • In the upper right corner, click +Details to display the plugin details, if they are not already displayed
  • Locate Flash Player plugin entry
  • What is the Path to the Flash Player plugin?
  • Select 'Always allow to run'
  • Restart the browser
  • Does Flash content play now?

It's doubtful your Chrome installation is corrupt.  You're most likely encountering Google's click-to-play feature.  If the this method doesn't work there's a few other options to try.
