I, too, am having problems; I am using Windows Vista Basic and Firefox. When I visit the Install page, it only prompts me to save the file and not "install". I click on save, and nothing happens. I'm trying to stay away from IE so I do need Flash!! Someone please help!

    Thanks!!!!

    Hi Acj555-
You're actually right on track, but missed a step. See the "Installation Instructions for non-Internet Explorer" at
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinformation/instructions/ or click on "insructions" on the FP10 dl page. For Firefox, you do "save" instead of "install" or "run" as you would in IE. However, you need to choose to WHERE you wish to save the file. "Desktop" is the easiest, but your default may be to "Downloaded Programs". Once the file has finished the dl, you'll be able to dbl click on the file and follow its instructions. Kinda like the 'ol "unzip" thing. No prob!

I have installed and uninstalled many times as well. It works when first installed. Then after shutdown and restart it does not work. Sometimes it starts working after many minutes. Has anyone had similar and suggestions?

    Hi Sageriver-
What browser are you using, what FP version are you installing, are you XPSP2, What did you see when the Adobe site told you it was installed successfully, what do you mean "it hasn't worked once"?
Have you checked out the flashplayer support page (top of this page, support/support home/flashplayer)?
Have you verified your FP version on the "Flash Tester" page (same path as above)? More info is needed.
Check out the support entries. Has everything checked out but the vids don't work and/or IE hangs?
If you are using IE, then FP has been installed way down in the System 32 folder. Try the older fix method first. Go to: C:/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash. In the Flash folder you'll see FlashUtil10a ("10" is the FP version. "a", yours could be another letter). For XP, dbl click on this file. A Wizard will appear, follow the instructions. This should "set" your installation. Restart IE, verify your version (if not done earlier), test on a coupla websites.

Gary, my situation is very similar using IE7, WinXPsp3, and started when I installed Flash Player 10. Yahoo Finance Interactive charts tell me that "You do not have Flash 7 or higher. The Interactive Chart requires Flash 7 or higher. Click here to download Flash." Yahoo and Verizon ISP just refer me to Adobe, and I've done what is suggested on FP support pages as follows:

    (1)Uninstalled with Adobe FP uninstaller
    (2) Confirmed IE settings for active X controls
    (3) Reinstalled from both from Adobe website and and via separate download
    (4) Confirmed FP version as 10.0.12.36 on http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about
    (5) Ran FlashUtil10a.exe utility...which never opens a wizard, it just downloads an update which says will be effective after reboot, and I never saw any options or instructions presented.

I've done all suggested on Adobe's FP support pages below; none have cured the problem.

Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player installation for Windows (tn_19166)

Safe versions security restrictions when installing Flash Player-Internet Explorer on Windows (kb402435)

Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that prevent the Flash Player installation (fb1634cb)

One commenter ArgelD in "flash player" topic suggested copying Flash10a.ocx and renaming as Flash.ocx, supposedly worked for some, not for me or some others.

Bolehill said under "flash causes IE7 crash"..."I just wondered if my Display Adapter driver needing updating, so I went via My Computer; Mange; Device Manager; expanded the Display Adapter and right clicked the resulting driver. From this menu, I went to Properties and then the Driver tab of this. I then selected Update Driver and let Windows do its stuff, allowing it to search for an updated driver. Hey presto, it found one somewhere on the system (it definitley did not go to the Internet), and, having rebooted after the driver update (as required by the system), I can now access the website that caused the problems without IE7 closing straight away. So it appears that the iesue is around a conflict between the main dispaly adapter drivers and Flash and the way round this is to make sure that the display adapter driver is 110% up-to-date (and in your case, also that there is no trace left of the old driver).

Maybe this will help others....? Cheers Bolehill

Any more ideas for someone using a 1.6mhz(x2) Gateway MX6448 with 2gb ram laptop user? Flash movies are fine, just these dang charts...

Thanks for any thoughts you or others may have!

    Hi Cyoes-
Holy crap! I thought the Yahoo problems were fixed by their (Yahoo's) latest update. I saw a workaround from a coupla months back somewhere, I'll have to search about. See if you've updated Yahoo, maybe checkabout as well. That's the best I can do for now (sorry).

I too am having problems with Adobe Flash Player. I have been able to watch video tutorials on Layers magazine for years, but now they don't play on Safari. I did the un-install and then the install and the videos won't play on Safari. I can get the same videos to play on Firefox.

How do you install more memory or unlimited storage to Flash Player?

Thank you for contacting Kelby Training. You may need to change the setting on your Adobe Flash to allow more cookies to be saved to view the Online Training. You are able to change the settings by simply right click on the video. We recommend the “unlimited storage” for the Flash Player. Once changed it will allow more information to be stored on your computer to speed up the process of the player. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate and give us a call.

I try to right click on the video but nothing happens. Using a Mac OS 10.5.6, and a wacom two button mouse.
