I'm trying to update flash player but it keeps ignoring my password and sending me back to the install button, what do I do?

I am trying to install flash player in order to update it since I can't watch any videos until it updates. I have been able to go through the whole installation process until the end when the red install box pops up. I click on the install button and the text box appear saying, "Install Adobe Flash Player wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this." I type in my os administrator password. Immediately I return to the red box with the install button. I click on install, get the same message asking for my password, I enter my password and the cycle continues without end. How do I get this to work right? Thanks
