I need help with uninstalling FP so I can install FP or some hemlock

I cannot get flash player to install, uninstall so that I can install, as all the instructions tell us to do.  That insane crazy pop up that tells you to install FP, that you can only say no to so that it will go away is making me want to eat a bullet.  I cannot take it much longer.  I have no idea what to do.  And, the crazy thing is that I did do something a couple weeks ago that made it all stop and then somehow it started again. Sux to fix something but not know what you did, so that you break it again.  Anywho, I have tried everything from doing a manual install with the downloader, tried downloading an older vs, but I could not find one that was compatible with Vista, which is my operating system (32 bit).  I did go to the hyperlink provided on another persons delimna and the site said that I have the most current vs of FP installed.  But, it is not showing in my programs list nor is it in my files in my C drive, nor a trace of it in common files.  It is not in regedit in local machine/software/adobe.  I cannot find it, only the saved programs to uninstall or install it saved to desktop.  Wait, I just rechecked my programs and features and it shows flashplayer 10 Actuve X and shockwave player 11.5, both of which are not found anywhere else in my computer.  I am so weary of all of this.  I just need help.  Please, please please,  It is horrible because you have to have fp to run certain programs, but it will not run and I do not  know if this is a Adobe issue, Windows issue or a Vaio issue.

Well, I sort of thot that would take care of it. Just one set of wings tho is fine. You won't know what to do without all of those popups, LOL

Now that we've that UAC taken care of it may be a good idea to check this test site.

Using IE and any other browser you may use, let me know if you can see the Flash Player logo animation(spinning) (RED F).

Also what version of Flash Player is Displayed?

    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

It will be tomorrow when I check your Anti-Virus info.

    Thanks,

Oh, thank you so much!!  I do want to get clarity, tomorrow of course, on the shield and uac thing.  Do I now go back and put the security back on?  I need to understand what to do there better or maybe read it tomorrow.

I went to the flash link and I have this vs of FP:  You have version 10,2,153,1 installed

So, I guess we are gold there, right?

I can work with you on the av stuff, I do have norton 360 and it is up to date and runs daily...but you may want to do something or see something?  so I will catch you tomorrow.  I do have an appt tomorrow, so if I miss you early, it may be late, I am east coast.  And, then I have to be out tomorrow night.  What if we cannot reconnect until Saturday?  Will that work?  I will try my best to catch you early tomorrow, I do not work, but you may not be available.

Again, thank you so much.  Jan

Hi, I'm helping on 7 threads and everyone is replying at the same time, several times!

Well, I'll see if I can find that Hemlock link but if not you'll have to settle for the FP one:-)

Ok, take a deep breath as I advised on the other thread. The reason you can't find the Flash Player files is because they are not where you've been looking.

Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back all files listed. If Flash Player is only Installed in your IE browser then the files you find are all for IE. If you use another browser let me know.

Then using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in all addons and or Run Without Permission for Shockwave Flash Object (Object, not just Shockwave Flash). Is it Installed and Enabled? What version?

    Thanks,

Alls I know is you are a God or Goddess if you help me.  I am sooooo frustrated.  I do use AOL as well.  I have not been able to really use IE because of this problem. EVERY single move, it threw up that box for the download.  I could not take it.

Here is what is in the file that you pointed me to:

    Flash10o.ocx                   (ActiveX Control)

    FlashInstall                      (Text Doc)

    FlashUtil10o_ActiveX.dll    (App Ext)

    FlashUtil10o_ActiveX        (Application)

    Install                              (Text Doc)

Shockwave Flash Object, vs 10.2.153.1   enabled

Hi, well I do collect titles:-) Well you'll be glad to hear that your Flash Player files are all correct and the latest version.

Your Shockwave Flash Object is also and most importantly it is Enabled. So Flash Player for IE is complete and should be working.

Now that that is settled, what other problem are you having?

    Thanks,
