ie8 crashing with flash player 10.2.152.32

Hi,

My browser crashes (shuts down) when trying to play the live stream at the following address:

http://www.bloomberg.com/tv

The stream plays for maximum 1 or 2 seconds before the browser closes itself.

This happens only when using flash player version 10.2.152.32.

When I roll back to flash player version 10.1.102.64 the stream plays flawlessly.

I have the following system configuration:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209-1647)

     Browser: IE v8.0.6001.18702
     DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
     System Model: P43T-ES3G
     Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E8400  @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
     Memory: 2046MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
     Display Memory: 1024.0 MB
     Current Mode: 1440 x 900 (32 bit) (75Hz)

Thanks

Hi, I tested that site on my work computer(XP/SP3/IE6) and it worked fine. I have hardware acceleration ON. My system is not as powerful as yours but the audio was very clear and the video was also. No buffering, etc. I have the Flash Player vs 10.2.152.32 also. There was a live broadcast at the time.

Are you having any problem on youtube?

You could try going to this Adobe site and right clicking on the Flash logo, click on Settings & UNcheck hardware acceleration under Display Settings and see if that makes a difference.

You could also check & update your video card driver if one is available.

    Thanks,

Thanks for having a look at it first of all.

I forgot to mention that all my system drivers are up to date, also I have all the latest OS and IE updates installed.

I have absolutely no problem on any other site I tried including youtube.

I'm not sure what Adobe site are you reffering to.

However I did a right click on the flash player container at the faulty site and unchecked that "Enable hardware acceleration" under the "Display" tab from the "Settings" option. Still the same crash after maximum 2 seconds of playing.

Indeed it seems to be a problem related to my system because I too could play that stream with no problem using v10.2.152.32 on another computer.

But also my system has no problem playing that stream using v10.1.102.64.

So, by logical conclusion, the new v10.2.152.32 has a problem running that stream over my system configuration.

If there is anything I can provide to help debug this just let me know.

    Thanks.

Hi, I'm sorry that I forgot to post the link to the test site. Glad you found it anyway. There might be some addon that is conflicting with that website. On the computer that is working with that site, do you have Shockwave Player Installed?

At least by having that other computer to compare addons/settings etc, you may be able to find the issue easier.

What about your Anti-Virus program? Is it the same as the other computer with the same addons in the browsers?

Any upgrade that may have added a new addon?

I'd try to compare the addons in the browsers with the two computers and see if you can find a difference.

    This is a puzzle:-)

    Thanks,
