I am a simpleton but I really need help.

I recently removed a threat that I still have listed in my Anti Virus Microsoft Security Essentail: Rogue:Win32/FakeXPA and also Adware:Win32/Hotbar

Since removing these I cant get flash player to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled according to your instructions. No go. It says it is in my program manager but there is no file size behind it. I went to the test site and there is only the red x. The McAfee downloaded and is working.

Check if the Malware has set the "kill-bit" for Flash Player: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3432049#3432049

If it is set, don't fix it manually (unless you feel very confident using the Registry Editor); just post if it is set, and someone will give you an easy method to remove that "kill-bit".

According to that link I have a kill-bit problem and I am not comfortable changing it. What now?

Hi, If you've found that the Kill-bit has been set, then go to Post#4 in that thread. At the very bottom you will see the instructions. You'll Save that zipfile to your Desktop and then extract the file remove_kill-bit.reg and save it to your desktop.

Close all browser windows and you may want to disable your Anti-Virus. Then Run that file. When it is finished, reboot(restart) your computer and re-enable your AV.

    Thanks,
