iexplore.exe - Application Error. Help!!

This in one of those things that can drive you nuts.  All was well, however recently when trying to use BBC iplayer.  I was prompted to install Flash Player. Which was there a few days before and working perfectly. Now when I try to start the download I get a box with the following message.

iexplore.exe - Application Error

The installation of "0x10420068" referenced memory at "0x10420068".  The memory could not be "written".

Can anyone help. Please

    Try the offline ActiveX installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe; save it to disk, close all browser windows, then run the downloaded installer.
