Install Adobe Flash player 10.1 popup will not stop popping up!

I have been trying for 3 weeks to rid my computer of the "install adobe flash player" popup. I have installed and  uninstalled Flash Player as advised many times and contacted every forum I can find.  I don't believe I should have to pay a fee to remove something Adobe installed on my computer without my knowledge (the popup reminder), The popup appears every time I start a program that may use it at least 15-20 times a day. I'm using windows XP Pro service pack 3. I use AOL and IE ver 8 for most of my browsing.  Thanks for any assistance.

I'm sorry Error was an incorrect word.I was referring to 0000 00000010 "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.513\FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER.exe" /RegServer re the conflict message.

yes it works and yes the popups continue

This really seems to be specific to AOL; I found this other topic http://forums.adobe.com/message/2910121 (unresolved).

The question is: where does that pop-up come from - what triggers it?  Is it something that is issued during startup?

Can you check msconfig if there are any startup items that might indicate something Adobe or FP?

Also, are there any AOL forums that may address AOL browser / add-on issues?  (Where you could search for FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER.exe)

Hi, It seems AOL and the INSTALL FP POP-UP is my problem too. If I click anywhere on the AOL homepage at startup , the FP POP-UP goes away.

Ofcourse, with AOL it's just one or many annoying POP-UPS!  I would love to get rid of it anyway. There must be more AOL addicts infected by this carp? Good Luck!

Not sure if that pop-up is genuine - are you sure that your computer is free from malware?

Can you see the Flash animation at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and is there a version information beneath it?

What files do you have in folder C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

Go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.html and uncheck "Notify me if an update to Adobe Flash Player is available."

Does the pop-up still appear after this?
