Install fail on Flash 12.0 to Mac OS x 10.6.8?

I got an update message today (2/4/14) and chose to install the most current Flash player.  It downloaded, but the installer won't work for me- 'install' button on installer window is inactive, 'quit' is only button that is active.  Any video on the web now says 'blocked plug in.'  Any suggestions?
