Install of Flash 10 on Mac OS 10.4.11 not recognized

After sites say I don't have it, have installed Flash Player 10 three times now, and sites still saying not there. Install goes OK, and plugin can be found in Mac HD>Library>Internet plugins. I see there's a thread for this in Vista, but not Mac OS. Anybody know a fix? Thanks.

    Hi Violetcrumble-
I'm not a Mac person but I'll try to help ya.
    Safari? Firefox?
Are you getting this on all sites? Did you have a previous working FP? Did you dl FP10 through those sites or directly from the Adobe site? If not, try it all again directly from Adobe http://adobe.com/go/getflash
Be sure to uninstall first, Flash uninstall tool http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
I don't have a direct link for the FP version checker (Flash player tester), but http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ should get you close.
I can't believe that all your fav websites need to be updated this long after FP10's release, but..? Something else must be happening.
For some info and if all else fails:
See the thread by Chris Cox "Player 10 Performance on Macintosh" dated 1/17/09, Tjray's reply. He has links to revert back to v9.
I had talked to my Mac friends for another thread. They'd previously moved over to Firefox browser for performance reasons, and don't have the FP10 issue. Go figure. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
