Installation fails with weird error message

I would like to install FlashPlayer for Opera 11.50 on Windows 7. When running install_flashplayer10_chra_aih.exe, I get the error message

ABORT: Ceriticate authentication failed, please re-install to correct the problem

It *really* says "Ceriticate authentication".... Any idea what's going wrong? The error is reproducible, i.e. repeated download shows the same problem.

It is likely the web installer exe is being partially downloaded or "corrupted". Web security products both local or cloud-based use rules to detect and filter out malware and likely this binary file falls within rules defined by that product. You should be able to make exceptions for trusted sites. See this link for details: http://windowsexplored.com/2011/08/23/the-case-of-the-corrupt-download/.

I should also note that you may see the same thing for other web installers, e.g. same thing happens for Adobe Reader installer. And it would not just be limited to the Adobe site.

It is often that download managers create such problems, although most users do not experience any problems.

In these cases it is best to download the "clean" installers, either from the link that I posted earlier, or from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

A clean installer for Adobe Reader can be found at http://get.adobe.com/de/reader/enterprise/
