Installation Files Won't Open

I've had this problem before with flash player and other programs where the files won't open after i download them no matter how many times i try. It was suggested my mods here that i use the direct download after Flash Player's updated installer not work for me; Which worked for a while but for some reason the files would download but wouldn't open no matter what i did.

I asked about it here in this thread Why Won't Flash Player Install? And to be honest i really should've follow up the questions asked by m_vargas so i'm at fault for that. But i didn't really respond because i stumbled across the Extended Support Release and it was working perfectly up until two days ago. It's now doing the same thing as the Flash Player direct download and many other files i try to download, It won't open after downloading.

Also in my search for a alternate download site i found this one https://www.itechtics.com/download-adobe-flash-player-18-offline-installers/ i downloaded the Flash Player 18 offline installer from there and i worked but i keep getting messages about the my Flash Player being outdated which is weird because the Extended Support Release was the same version and i never got that message. Anywho i tried downloading Flash Player 19 & 20 from that site but files won't open after downloading. So i'm totally stumped right now maybe you guys can help me figure this thing out.

I'm running Windows XP 32 bit and FireFox 41.0.2.

P.S. I tried this in all of this in the most recent FireFox and got the same results

The bottom line is that it's way, way beyond time to move off WinXP.

At minimum, you'll need SP3 installed in order for software signed with current, valid developer signatures to validate properly, but seriously, it's time for a 64-bit OS and Windows 7 as a minimum, for a whole host of reasons. This is particularly true if you're doing anything remotely sensitive (healthcare, banking, etc) when browsing the web.

The installers on the page you link to are old installers and they are old beta versions, which is not something you want to use.

What service pack, if any, do you have installed on your Windows XP system?

I suspect the issue you're having is due to certificate signing issues. The Flash Player installers are signed with the latest SHA-256 digital signature which is not supported on Windows XP SP2 and older systems (Microsoft has deprecated support for older signing technologies, see links below). If you do not have Service Pack 3 installed and you try to launch a program with the latest signing technology the program will not launch. This may be why you're not able to launch some files. For Flash Player, you can try using the offline installers posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows 7 and earlier page, in the 'still having problems' section. However, there is no guarantee that these will work on your XP system, especially if you do not have SP3 installed on your system. If these do work, bookmark this page to download the installers from for future releases, and do not download them from a non-Adobe site. The only place to download the current, legitimate, non-virus/malware infected versions of Flash Player is directly from Adobe's site.

Alternately, the best way to ensure the latest version of Flash Player is installed on your system is to opt into Background Update. The Background Update feature in Flash Player regularly checks for a new version of Flash Player. When a new version is encountered, Flash Player is downloaded and installed within 24 hours of a release. You can opt into Background Updates at installation time, or in the Control Panel > Flash Player. In Control Panel > Flash Player select the Updates tab and select the 'Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)' option. Select this option when installing Flash Player.
