Installation Problems

Recently, I received an update alert on my Adobe Flash Player. I clicked to install updates. I also use Adobe ReaderXI. I recently tried to download a job application requiring Adobe, but it acted like I did not have it. I uninstalled both the Flash Player and the Reader with intentions of reinstalling both. It let me reinstall the Reader, but not the Flash Player. Also the problems I was having with the Reader and the job application form was NOT resolved with the reinstallation. How can I remedy my problem?
