Installer Has Stalled for Weeks

Have tried weeks to install update, after downloading the update from Firefox & Safar.  The Flash-installer icon bounces in the dock until I force quit.  Install.log shows nothing b/c I never get to the step to input my password to complete installation.  What to do?
