I recently purchased a laptop with Windows 8.  I am having trouble getting anything to play.  I have tried to download Flash player and for some reason it will not download

What browser are you using?  Internet Explorer 10 has Flash Player preinstalled; you don't need (and cannot) install Flash Player on it.
