installing adobe flash player for internet explorer

need help installing flash player evertime i try it starts down loading get's about half way then stops and i get message that say's close internet explorer to finish installing  i close ie but still get the message i have disabled pop up blocker and anti-virus stil won't  download  i have been at this for 2 weeks off and on every time i try to play  a video i get message   must install adobe  flash player to watch  but video will play but it does not have sound    adobe  is worst program i have ever delt with   is ther an alternitive to it---something else would have to be better it sure couldn't be any worse
