installing after uninstalling

Since you failed to tell us which browser you were using i am going to provide a relatively long post. Please be sure to read it thoroughly as everything will be covered short of re-installing the integrated version built into your Operating system

INTRODUCTION

There are 3 type of flash player plugins, and they all have to be installed separately, so when I get to the part about running the uninstaller remember that you will have to re-install per browser plugin type, as the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller will uninstall them ALL(except Integrated version on Windows 8.X and 10).  It is important to note that you can have different version numbers here as well because not all browsers and applications use the same plugin remember this. Also just because you went and installed Adobe Flash player in Internet Explorer DOES NOT mean it will be updated or installed for Firefox and vise-versa.

     i) NPAPI - This is for Firefox most notably.

     ii) ActiveX - Internet Explorer/EDGE(Windows 8 and 10 Flash Players are integrated into the Operating system)

     iii) PPAPI - Opera browser

*****IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING WINDOWS 8.X AND 10 USERS*****    

There are basically very few steps to upgrading your Adobe Flash Player, but some very important differences. One of those differences is how Adobe Flash Player is installed, and uninstalled in Windows 8.X and Windows 10 .

In Windows 8.X and Windows 10 (all variants) Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer and EDGE Browser is exclusively handled by Windows Updates period, you cannot uninstall, re-install, and install this be any means with any utility on the Adobe website. It is integrated into Windows. DO NOT try to make any changes to the Operating System files in these versions of Windows and Flash Player PERIOD. I cannot stress this anymore.

Any troubleshooting on the above mentioned OS and browsers is going to be a Windows related. IF you need to upgrade your Integrated Windows 8.X and Windows 10 Flash player you MUST use windows updates to take and apply the updates as they are pushed out by Microsoft, the same goes for rolling back, you mus uninstall a specific update relating to that specific version of flash. There is no easy exceptions to this rules generally speaking. IF you went in and made any modifications to the integrated Flash player versions on these operating system it is beyond the scope of this post and you are just going to have to use google to solve your error.

Google Chrome Browser on any Operating system is not affected by these installs, and does not apply to this guide as Chrome has an integrated version of Flash Player and that update is handled via Chrome and Google.

INSTALLATION

For the NPAPI or PPAPI version of Adobe Flash Player for Windows 8.X to 10 follow this guide below.

1) Download the Adobe Uninstaller here: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_Flash_Player_uninstaller

2) Grab the Offline install files that you need located here:

    a) Firefox (NPAPI): https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player.exe

    b) Opera (PPAPI): https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_ppapi.exe

    c) Internet Explorer Active X (Win XP through 7): https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Now that you have all the files you need you can begin, usually you do not have to uninstall, however it can be a good practice generally speaking as the Adobe Uninstaller takes care of certain thing that might be left over from older installs.

3) make sure you have ALL Browsers closed, and the following applications closed as they use on version or the other of flash, this is not a complete list (check the system tray for the running application):

    a) BattleNet browser

    b) Yahoo messanger

    c) Skype

    d) Steam Browser

    e) The Weather Channel App

4) Right Click on the Uninstaller and Run as Administrator to begin Uninstalling All variants of Adobe Flash Player; once again Windows 8.X and Windows 10 users the Integrated version WILL NOT be touched by this uninstaller. This should only take a few seconds.

5) Right click and run as administrator whichever Variants you downloaded in step 2 one by one and install them.

That should be it and you should be able to play any flash content for the browser and plugin you installed for.
